Neutropenic
A neutropenic (nu-tro-PEE-nik) diet is for people with weakened immune systems, like cancer patients. This diet can help protect you from harmful bacteria and other harmful organisms found in certain foods and drinks. Basically as long as the food is packaged, processed, or well cooked it is considered neutropenic. Typically foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables (bananas, oranges, and frozen fruits + veggies are usually okay), raw nuts and seeds, raw oats, unpasteurized foods, even certain types of water! However, during my own time on the diet I searched for healthier ways to follow this temporary way of eating by turning to as many whole, plant-based foods as possible and avoiding all of the packaged, processed junk I was told I could still consume. The recipes below are dedicated to those currently fighting and struggling to find foods that will help their bodies heal and thrive. All of the ingredients are completely plant-based, gluten and soy-free, and contain little to no unrefined sugars. Enjoy!
