How to Make the Best Stovetop Popcorn

Happy Friday friends! Just in time for the weekend, I give you the recipe for one of my favorite snacks...popcorn!

Growing up, I had an affinity for movie theatre popcorn. Disgustingly drenched in excessive amounts of butter and salt was always my request to the guy or gal behind the counter. It actually makes my stomach churn to think about now! I've learned over the years, though, that I can still enjoy my beloved popcorn, and in a way that I truly find even more delicious than my buttered days.

The star of this recipe is without a doubt nutritional yeast. Giving the popcorn a perfectly cheesy flavor that also just so happens to be loaded with vitamins and minerals! FYI..nutritional yeast is not an active yeast, so if you have any type of yeast sensitivity or overgrowth, you should still be able to enjoy the seasoning without any issues.

Whether you like your corn savory, sweet, or totally plain, this stovetop method is one of the easiest (and healthiest) ways to enjoy this yummy treat.

The Best Stovetop Popcorn

(Makes 4 Servings)

Ingredients:
3/4 cup organic, non-GMO popcorn kernels
2-3 Tbs unrefined coconut oil
nutritional yeast + sea salt, to taste

Instructions:

1. Place coconut oil in a large pot over medium-high heat, along with 3-4 popcorn kernels. Cover and let sit until kernels begin to pop.

2. Add in the remaining kernels then remove from heat and count to 30.

3. Place the pot back over medium heat until all popcorn is popped (lowering the heat if needed to avoid burning towards the end).

4. Sprinkle with nutritional yeast and sea salt, and enjoy!

I hope you all enjoy my method for the best stovetop popcorn, and happy weekend!
